Installing Boretec drill. (Boretec head can be installed or removed at this stage)
- Extend Boretec arbour using bolt action
- Loosen Grub screw with Allen key supplied
- Locate Boretec drill into centre of Boretec arbour with locating hole aligned to grub screw
- Tighten Grub screw (do not over tighten)
Installing Boretec Heads
- Tools required – Electric Drill - minimum 10mm chuck
- Place Boretec arbour in drill for stability and tighten chuck (if vibration is felt when boring check and retighten chuck)
- Select correct Boretec head type for material to be bored from usage matrix
- Hand Screw Boretec head into Boretec arbour to full depth
Boring holes
- Use bolt action to expose the Boretec drill. Note: if the Boretec arbour is hot use protective gloves
- Locate the Boretec drill onto material to be drilled. Note: Do not use hammer action
- Drill pilot hole only until grinding commences
- Remove Boretec from hole and retract drill using bolt action
- Relocate the Boretec head into the pilot hole and commence boring
- Use appropriate speed/ force to ensure a steady flow of material from hole
- Ensure that there is sufficient material or space behind the hole being bored
Removing Boretec Heads
- Tools required. One or two 300mm shifting spanners
- Locate shifting spanner on Boretec head and apply sufficient force to undo
- If the head cannot be easily removed, a second spanner may be used directly on the Boretec arbour for additional leverage
Note: As with all drilling/boring tools Boretec heads get hot. Use appropriate gloves or allow to cool.
Care of the Boretec arbour
- This is a precision tool. When cool, replace arbour and heads after use in the case provided
- Build up of dust should be removed with a wire brush, or if necessary, compressed air utilising appropriate dust protection
